Boomers: Why They Still Matter

How the Baby Boomer generation changed the world

Baby Boomers were born when soldiers returned home to their wives when World War II ended in 1945. The baby boom lasted from the years 1946 to about 1964.

There were so many children born during this period that their sheer numbers changed society at every stage as they grew up. World War II also created a lot of new technology and growth for countries that won it. When this technology – such as television – got into the hands of this huge number of young people, it changed how we see communicate, how we see ourselves and our place in the world. The Baby Boomers invented Rock and Roll, and as they became teenagers, they fused music, politics, and culture in ways that still affect us today.

Kidoons has even produced a whole theatre show about the Baby Boomers: BOOM!
