From Glove to Grunge - Evolving Styles at High School Grads

STORY BY: Todd Klaiman
YEAR: 1992
LOCATION: Richmond BC

After watching BOOM X, Todd was reminded of the clothes he wore in high school, emulating his favourite musicians. At his Grade 7 graduation, he walked across the stage to get his diploma dressed like Michael Jackson, in leather pants, a white dress shirt and a sequined glove. A few years later, at his Grade 12 graduation party (after the formal "cap and gown" ceremony held at the Orpheum Theatre in Vancouver), he wore beatnik-grunge clothes that echoed Pearl Jam and Nirvana. "It's interesting to think of that evolution - from Michael Jackson to Pearl Jam." Thanks for sharing, Todd.
