Sara's mom, who grew up as a hippie in the 60s, hated the 80s. Her mom passed on stories from her youth, such as helping virtuoso American-Mexican guitarist Carlos Santana get his first passport. Santana's hair was really long, so she took him home, combed his hair, and re-took his passport photo so it would be accepted by the authorities. She also got onstage and danced with the cast of Hair, and then had them all over to her house for a cast party. So when Sara's mom talks about the 80s, in comparison to her wild years in the 60s and 70s, she's not impressed: "that was a waste of time". Thanks for sharing, Sara.
