Hungarian Au Pair Taken by NKVD
STORY BY: Trevor John Leclerc
YEAR: 1956
LOCATION: Aldershot, UK
Trevor from Kingston writes: “My brother was born in 1956 in England. My parents had a Hungarian au pair. My father came home one day to find my mother hysterical because two men had shown up claiming to be her uncle (she denied it) and they took her away. They were NKVD (Soviet Secret Police)*. She was reportedly shot. There was nothing military or civil authorities could do to help (my father was military). The NKVD wanted her and they reached her in Aldershot.” Thanks for sharing, Trevor.
