A Pilot who Worked with Avro Arrow Engineers

STORY BY: Bettina Q
YEAR: 1980
LOCATION: Calgary, AB

Bettina is a pilot who used to fly for Environment Canada. She had the opportunity to work with two of the engineers from Canada’s ill-fated Avro Arrow program. Ian and Michael helped build a camera mount for Bettina’s plane, and she remembers how sad their stories were about Prime Minister Diefenbaker cancelling the Arrow. The men subsequently began to promote aviation by working for Environment Canada, and Bettina remembers them fondly. Both men died several years ago, and they would have been in 100s today. Thanks for sharing, Bettina.
