From Latvia, Bernard arrived in Canada at the end of August, 1939, five days before the second world war began on September 1st. Given Prime Minister Mackenzie King's immigration philosophy that "none is too many", Bernard is grateful to have broken that rule and come to Canada. Thanks for sharing, Bernard.
