Hal was in Syracuse from 1965-1969 and saw one of Jimi Hendrix's last concerts. He drove to Woodstock with his girlfriend, where a farmer showed them a way in. He was far enough away to not see anything onstage but could hear the music wafting over. He lived through the days of his friends getting drafted or getting off for whatever reason, then many of them took off for Canada. As a Canadian himself, Hal didn't have to worry about it.
