The Cold War Terrorized a Generation of Children

STORY BY: Gail M.
YEAR: 1962
LOCATION: Winnipeg, MB

Gail moved to Winnipeg in the early 60s, and remembers how terrifying the Cold War was for kids. There were schools drills and other events that kept her awake at night. Gail had an active imagination, and her recurring dream was that the world would be blown up in a nuclear war. She was kept awake at night with an image of someone cranking a rocket one degree further towards annihilation. Thanks for sharing, Gail.
