The Detroit Riots and the Kent State Shootings

STORY BY: Kevin Rollason
YEAR: 1968
LOCATION: Detroit, Michigan and Kent, Ohio

Kevin grew up in Chatham, Ontario, about 40 miles from Detroit. One night, his family drove to Windsor and he noticed an orange glow across the river in Detroit - the city was burning from the Riots. On another family trip, they drove past Kent State University in Ohio. He heard about the Kent State Shootings, where students were shot for protesting the Vietnam War. These two incidents from his youth have stuck with him ever since. Thanks for sharing, Kevin.
