Selling Bomb Shelters at The Western Fair
Jim was born in London, ON in 1949, and grew up during the height of the Cold War. He remembers going to the Fall Fair (called The Western Fair) and seeing an exhibit of a bomb shelter. It was quite heavily marketed in the 1950s, and parents were urged to build one in their basements. Jim found bomb shelters quite surreal at the time, living in a small, peaceful town in Canada. Thanks for sharing, Jim.
