A Rotation of Draft Dodgers in the Duplex

STORY BY: Gillian Hauer
YEAR: 1963
LOCATION: Vancouver, BC

Gillian grew up in Vancouver in the 1960s. Her mom was an artist who once dated Bill Reid, the renowned Haida carver. At age 3, Gillian's parents divorced, and at age 4, Bill came into their life. Then, her mom moved into a duplex on Yew Street in Vancouver, "and that's when we started having draft dodgers". They came and went in quick succession, and Gillian still knows a few of them, who are now in their 70s. Thanks for sharing.
