The Banal and the Tragic: in a way, both Ridiculous

Robert was born in 1960, and many of the things he remembers from his childhood are the banal, silly little things they did at the time. He also remembers the tragic: the Vietnam War, the Kennedy assassinations, Martin Luther King Jr. So there you have the tragic and the banal, he says, "and they're both somehow ridiculous… and sad, in a way".
