Designing the Wing of the Avro Arrow
STORY BY: Gail Hause
YEAR: 1957
LOCATION: Toronto, ON
Gail's husband Michael was part of the design team for the Avro Arrow wing. It was at the beginning of his aeronautical engineering career. He went on to design airplanes for over 40 years, and looks back on the Avro Arrow time very fondly. His fellow engineers came mainly from the English Air Force, and he remembers them as a very talented group. When the Avro Arrow was wheeled out for the first time, it was one of the proudest moments of his life. When that plane was cancelled, of course, they were all in shock. Thanks for sharing, Gail.
