TV - So You Never Have to Talk to Anyone

STORY BY: Marion Tully
YEAR: 1951
LOCATION: Toronto, ON

At age 19, Marion was on a date with her future husband Jack. He wanted her to meet some friends, so they head over to a house that is pitch black, because people were watching TV - Milton Berle, she thinks. She can't see a thing, but sits in a chair as they pass around chips and watch the program. 90 minutes later, everyone gets up and heads up. Marion tells Jack that she never actually met anybody! That's what people used to do - watch television in the dark. Thanks for sharing, Marion.
