Muddy Waters opens for Jefferson Airplane

STORY BY: Gord Walkinshaw
YEAR: 1968
LOCATION: Vancouver, BC

Gord and a bunch of his friends were at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Vancouver, BC in 1968, to see Jefferson Airplane in concert. The opening act was Muddy Waters, and they were standing there, trying to understand the music. "It sounds like rock and roll, but it was slow". And that was Gord's introduction to real blues. Muddy Waters is not commonly referred to as the "Father of Chicago Blues". Thanks for sharing, Gord.
