Reading Dad's Classified Info about Atomic Bombs
STORY BY: David Cutcher
YEAR: 1962
LOCATION: Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA
David grew up in Las Cruces, New Mexico. His dad worked for the US Defense Department, doing research on the effects of atomic blasts at White Sands Missile Range. It was an interesting education for a 13-year old, because his father would tell him NOT to look at classified documents. Of course he did! "I have more information than I ever, ever wanted to know". For example, when North Korea says they exploded a small hydrogen bomb, and the USA says it was only an atomic blast, Dave knows better. He knows that the trigger for a hydrogen bomb is an atomic bomb, so it was actually a failed hydrogen bomb that exploded. Thanks for sharing, David.
