Lobster: "Poor Man's Food"

STORY BY: Carole F.
YEAR: 1954
LOCATION: Iles de la Madeleine, QC

Carole's grandmother was an Acadian from Les Iles de la Madeleine. When she was growing up, she would bring lobster sandwiches to school, since her family were lobster fishermen. She would hide her sandwiches, because lobsters were considered "poor man's food", but many kids wanted to trade with her. Thanks for sharing, Carole.
