Vietnam Uprisings in Boston
STORY BY: Patricia G.
YEAR: 1970
LOCATION: Boston, MA
Patricia lived in Boston, MA, from 1967-70, and witnessed much of the uprising against the Vietnam War. When US President Richard Nixon sent troops to Cambodia, there was a sense that everything was breaking loose. Patricia went for a walk with her baby in her carriage, and there were petitions being signed on every street corner. A woman ran up to her and aggressively asked with she wouldn't sign, to which Patricia replied that she was Canadian, and signing might invalidate the petition. Her husband called and suggested that she stay off the streets that day. She replied that she had just come back and she was OK. Thanks for sharing, Patricia.
