Air Cadet Until Cuba

STORY BY: Lorne Abramson
YEAR: 1960
LOCATION: Montreal

Lorne was brought up in Montreal in a Jewish family, and in 1960 he joined the Air Cadets. Two years later, the Cuban Missile Crisis erupted, and his lovely Jewish mom warned him to quick the Cadets, or they would send him to Cuba. He did! He then goes on to talk about the explosive 60s in Montreal, working for Expo 67, and the generation gap that was widening at that time. Those difference of opinion were in some ways unfortunate, but also led to many of the amazing changes in the 60s. Thanks for sharing, Lorne.
