Generations Behind

STORY BY: David Neufeld
YEAR: 1955
LOCATION: Eastern Europe

David tells us about how he grew up in the 50s in a 3-generation household. His grandmother shared stories about growing up during World War 1, her immigration to Canada from Eastern Europe in the 20s, and living through the Great Depression in the 30s. These were the stories that framed how we understood the 50s-60s-70s. David speculates that we always need at least 1 or 2 generations to figure things out: "What's good? What's worthwhile?" Thanks for sharing, David.
