Fishing with Grampa

STORY BY: Craig C.
YEAR: 1975
LOCATION: Cambridge Bay, Manitoba

After World War 2, Craig's grandfather Lynd ended up working at a "Distant Early Warning Line" base up in Cambridge Bay, Manitoba. Craig was 10 when he and his grandma flew up to meet him. While there, he goes fishing with his grandfather and some locals. The RCMP ask what they're doing, and young Craig shouts out "we're fishing!". Lynd sends them off by saying they're just watching the locals fish. He grabs Craig by the ears and explains that "we fish with one little hook... they (the locals) fish with nets". They filled a truck bed full of char that day. Thanks for sharing, Craig.
