From Beatles to Janis

STORY BY: Marta W
YEAR: 1967
LOCATION: Toronto

Marta grew up in Toronto, and remembers the Beatles concert at Maple Leaf Gardens in 1964. She was so mad at the screaming fans, because she couldn't hear a word they were singing! Several years later, she was among a group of 300 people who saw Janis Joplin at the O'Keefe Centre. Janis was a little drunk, but it was still moving and heartwarming to hear her sing. Marta loved living in Toronto, and loved the fact that Yorkville was grungy and dirty at the time. Thanks for sharing, Marta.
