A Canadian Space Pioneer

STORY BY: Douglas Way-Nee
YEAR: 1961
LOCATION: Vandenberg Air Force Base, CA

Doug tells us how he is one of the few remaining Canadian pioneers in space. He worked on Alouette 1 and Alouette 2, Canada's first satellites, and the first satellites constructed by a country other than the USSR or the United States. Alouette 1 was launched in 1961, and was sent into space to explore the aurora borealis, and how it affected communications. Thanks for sharing, Doug,
