Tough Choices

Inspired by Maddie's story in BOOM, Cooki tells us how she got pregnant in KIngston, ON in 1970, and she was too far from Toronto to safely get an abortion. Her only two choices were to keep the baby or to give it up for adoption. She chose the latter, as she had been told many times that men would never want a "used woman" with a child. The story has a happy ending, as Cooki later met her son in 1996, and he had been raised in a wonderful family who couldn't have kids of their own. They have remained in close touch ever since.
